Louise Bessette's Upcoming Activities

On April 23, 2006 at 2:00 pm, pianist Louise Bessette and members of the National Arts Centre Orchestra will join for a concert entitled 'Music for a Sunday Afternoon', at the National Gallery of Canada. On the program: Wein, Weib und Gesang (piano, harmonium, string quartet) by J. Strauss Jr. (trans. Berg); Korngold's Marchenbilder (Fairytale Pictures), op. 3 (piano solo); Les furieuses enluminures (piano, string quartet, flute, clarinet) by Canadian composer Serge Arcuri; Webern's Quintet for piano and strings; and Kaiser Waltz (piano, string quartet, flute, clarinet) by J. Strauss Jr. (trans. Schoenberg).

On May 4, 2006 at 7:00 pm, composer José Évangelista will give a lecture at the Chapelle historique du Bon-Pasteur: 'Un autre regard sur la musique traditionnelle de l'Espagne'. Louise Bessette will be performing one of his works for piano, Monodias Espanolas. A reception offered by the General Consulate of Spain will follow the concert.
